This is a rather curious take on the traditional articulated desk lamp idea, but it’s one that you’ll love if you like Scandinavian minimalist design, much like the style of Ikea furniture and fittings. It’s also great from a sustainability point of view, with it’s liberal use of natural and renewable materials.
More than anything though, we think that this is just a great example of what can be done using more traditional materials and manufacturing techniques. Functionally this lamp operates in the same way as any other desklamp, and the articulated stem gives as much positional variation as you could hope for, and yet it’s made of wood and bamboo! In a world where natural resources are finite, you’ll probably find that innovative ideas such as this will become more and more common place. Could this lamp be a nod to the consumer world of tomorrow?
If we had to pick fault with this lamp, it would be the price, but as mentioned above it could well be a price worth paying for the sake of maintaining the standard of living that we have become used to, whilst being conscious that the worlds resources can only take so much exploitation. Items like this could provide the impetus for change that the consumer world needs.
